STRUCTURAL QUALITY ASSESSMENT FOR NEWLY CONSTRUCTED INDUSTRIAL PLANT IN SOUTH INDIA

Challenge:

The challenge in this scenario was that regular testing at a newly constructed industrial plant in South India revealed that the results for higher-grade concrete were not meeting the expected strength gain as per the mix design. This discrepancy in concrete strength needed to be addressed.

Solution:

To tackle this challenge, various investigations were conducted at different locations within the plant. A crucial step was establishing a correlation between NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) results and cube test results. This correlation helped in identifying the root causes of the strength deficiency. Subsequently, recommendations for restoring the concrete's strength were provided.

Benefits:

The benefit of this approach was that it allowed for a comprehensive analysis of the concrete strength issue. By correlating NDT and cube test results, the team not only identified the root causes but also provided valuable recommendations for addressing the problem. This led to the potential restoration of the concrete's strength, ensuring the industrial plant's structural integrity and long-term performance.
